A superb effort by Yermin Mercedes led the White Sands Pupfish (27-32) to a 15-11 win over the Alpine Cowboys (45-20) on Sunday at Alamogordo NM.

Mercedes racked up six RBIs on four hits for the White Sands Pupfish. He doubled in the first inning, singled in the fourth inning, and homered in the fifth and seventh innings.

Ian Drapsho delivered a big hit off the bench in the seven.. His pinch-hit double was the key moment in the White Sands Pupfish's four-run win.

With the White Sands Pupfish trailing by three in the seventh inning, Drapsho came to the plate and doubled, scoring Mercedes.

Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 26 runs and 27 hits, including zero extra base hits. Relief pitchers got their fill of innings during the game, with the opposing managers using 10 pitchers in total.

Drapsho got the win, running his season record to 5-2. He allowed one run over 1 2/3 innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered two hits.

Ryan Richardson (2-2) took the loss for the Alpine Cowboys. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
