The Alpine Cowboys (45-20) put in a full day's work in a 13-inning, 7-5 win over the White Sands Pupfish (27-32) Sunday at Griggs Park.
With the score tied at five, Dan Thorpe came to the plate and singled, bringing home Matt Henrickson.
Casanova Donaldson was solid at the plate for the Alpine Cowboys. Donaldson went 3-7, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the fifth and thirteenth innings.
Andrew Shoemaker pitched lights out for the Alpine Cowboys. The White Sands Pupfish managed just one hit off of the the Alpine Cowboys' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his three innings of work.
Justin Martinez pitched lights out for the White Sands Pupfish. Martinez held the Alpine Cowboys hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.
Eli Nickell ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
