Brandon Cooksey clubbed two home runs to carry the Taos Blizzard (22-41) to a 16-8 win over the Santa Fe Fuego (45-22) at Fort Marcy Park.
Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 24 runs and 35 hits, including zero extra base hits. Both bullpens were busy with seven pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.
Everything was working at the plate for the the Taos Blizzard in the fifth. The Santa Fe Fuego had no answer as the Taos Blizzard scored nine runs. The Taos Blizzard scored in the fifth on an RBI double by Jared Hunt, a three-run home run by Cody Coffman, , and a home run by Richie Anderson.
Anderson got his fifth win for the Taos Blizzard despite allowing eight runs over seven innings. Anderson struck out three, walked three and gave up 15 hits.
Brandon Marris (5-3) took the loss for the Santa Fe Fuego. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked none and struck out five.
The Taos Blizzard easily handled the Santa Fe Fuego pitching as six hitters combined for 16 hits, 12 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
