The Taos Blizzard (22-41) failed to take advantage of Cody Coffman's effort at the plate on Thursday, losing 16-5 to the White Sands Pupfish (28-33) at Taos Tundra.
Coffman hit two home runs for the Taos Blizzard. Coffman went 3-4 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Coffman homered in the sixth and eighth innings.
Twelve runs in the first three innings helped the White Sands Pupfish blow out the Taos Blizzard. An RBI double by Yermin Mercedes, a two-run triple by Mike Brandi, a three-run home run by Justin Cook, and a solo home run by Preston Lyon during the first inning and an error and a sacrifice fly by Cook in the second inning fueled the White Sands Pupfish's offense early.
Brandi reached base four times in the game for the White Sands Pupfish. He scored three runs and had two RBIs.
Mike Ormseth recorded the win for the White Sands Pupfish even though he allowed five runs over nine innings. Ormseth struck out nine, walked two and gave up 11 hits.
Matt Garlock (1-4) took the loss for the Taos Blizzard. He allowed 12 runs in five innings, walked three and struck out three.
The White Sands Pupfish hammered the Taos Blizzard pitching as eight hitters had a field day, combining for 17 hits, 14 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
