Blaise Fernandez was cold coming off the bench, but Fernandez warmed up quickly as Fernandez stroked a key pinch-hit single in the nine to lead the River City Rascals (59-35) to a 3-2 win over the Florence Freedom (41-53) on Tuesday at UC Health Stadium.
With the River City Rascals trailing by one in the ninth inning, Fernandez came to the plate and singled.
Fernandez racked up two RBIs on one hit for the River City Rascals.
The Florence Freedom had no answer for Patrick Crider, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Crider held the Florence Freedom hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Despite the loss, the Florence Freedom's Casey Henn dominated the River City Rascals' batters, giving up three runs and striking out nine.
Henn (9-6) was the game's losing pitcher.
