The Schaumburg Boomers beat up on the Windy City ThunderBolts, 18-2

The Schaumburg Boomers (57-34) jumped out to an early lead on the Windy City ThunderBolts (31-59) and captured an 18-2 victory on Friday at Standard Bank Stadium.

The game was decided quickly as the Schaumburg Boomers exerted their will early with six runs in the first three innings.

A home run by Ty Nelson and a two-run home run by Michael Valadez during the first inning fueled the Schaumburg Boomers' offense early.

Nelson racked up five RBIs on four hits for the Schaumburg Boomers.

Anthony Gomez brought the heat against the Windy City ThunderBolts during his outing. Gomez gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his 2 1/3 innings of work.

Eddie Cody got the win, running his season record to 7-1. He allowed two runs over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered eight hits.

Pete Whittingslow (0-1) took the loss for the Windy City ThunderBolts. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked seven and struck out three.

The Schaumburg Boomers hammered the Windy City ThunderBolts pitching as seven hitters had a field day, combining for 18 hits, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
