A superb effort by Matt Packer spurred the Normal CornBelters (40-39) to a 5-1 win over the Rockford Aviators (32-48) on Saturday at Aviator Stadium.

Packer got the win for the Normal CornBelters thanks to 11 strikeouts. Packer allowed one earned run, six hits and one walk over eight innings.

Ozney Guillen delivered a big hit off the bench in the seven.. His pinch-hit single was the key moment in the Normal CornBelters' four-run win.

With the game scoreless in the seventh inning Guillen came to the plate and singled.

Tyler Shover racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Normal CornBelters. He singled in the fifth inning and doubled in the eighth inning.

Ryan Zimmerman was effective even in defeat, mowing down eight the Normal CornBelters batters and allowing two runs.

Zimmerman (7-5) took the loss for the Rockford Aviators.
