The Evansville Otters (42-27) beat the Joliet Slammers (28-43) 7-5 in seven innings on Thursday at Bosse Field behind John Schultz, who collected three hits.

Jose Velez handled the Joliet Slammers' lineup with ease, racking up nine strikeouts. Velez allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk over four innings.

Matt Weaver racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Joliet Slammers. He singled in the fourth inning, tripled in the sixth inning, and doubled in the seventh inning.

Anthony Collazo improved to 1-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Evansville Otters. He allowed three runs over one inning. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Andrew Busby (2-5) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked two and struck out five.
