Cavan helps the Southern Illinois Miners down the Washington Wild Things 9-6

The Southern Illinois Miners (35-25) beat the Washington Wild Things (38-22) 9-6 on Saturday at Rent One Park, Marion, IL behind Ryan Cavan, who had two extra base hits.

He doubled in the fourth and eighth innings.

Scott Kalamar had a hot bat for the Washington Wild Things. Kalamar went 3-5 and scored one run. He singled in the third and fifth innings and doubled in the seventh inning.

Rick Teasley recorded his seventh win of the year for the Southern Illinois Miners. He allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings. Teasley struck out five, walked three and gave up seven hits.

Shawn Blackwell ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked four and struck out two.
