Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Thursday as the Gateway Grizzlies (33-16) outscored the Rockford Aviators (21-25) 14-9.

The two teams combined for 27 hits in the game.

The Gateway Grizzlies scored six runs in the first inning to build an early lead. The Gateway Grizzlies scored in the first on an RBI single by Niko Vasquez, an RBI single by Michael Wing, an RBI single by Richard Seigel, a fielder's choice, and a two-run double by TJ Bennett.

Wing racked up five RBIs on three hits for the Gateway Grizzlies.

The Rockford Aviators had no answer for Andrew Aizenstadt, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Aizenstadt held the Rockford Aviators hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Chris DeBoo recorded his third win of the year for the Gateway Grizzlies. He allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered two hits.

Cole Green was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just zero innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
