Story by Narrative Science.

The Schaumburg Boomers (22-19) and the Joliet Slammers (16-24) both had scoring chances on Thursday, but it was the Schaumburg Boomers that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 5-2 win at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.

The fact that the Schaumburg Boomers grouped all of their runs into the second inning helped them take advantage of their hits.

Jordan Wellander had an impressive outing against the Schaumburg Boomers' lineup. The Schaumburg Boomers managed just one hit off of Wellander, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his three innings of work.

Cal Bowling improved to 5-4 on the year by picking up the win for the Schaumburg Boomers. He allowed two runs over eight innings. Bowling struck out none, walked two and gave up 10 hits.

Greg Billo ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked four, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
