The Gateway Grizzlies (23-13) took home a marathon 4-3 victory over the Schaumburg Boomers (20-14) on Tuesday at GCS Ballpark.
With the score tied at three, Xavier Macklin came to the plate and singled, scoring Richard Seigel.
Seigel had two extra-base hits for the Gateway Grizzlies. He homered in the first inning and doubled in the tenth inning.
Kerry Kelley pitched seven innings and allowed no earned runs, four hits and no walks while striking out four.
A bright spot for the Schaumburg Boomers in the defeat was Seth Webster, who allowed only two runs while striking out seven.
Chris DeBoo got the win, running his season record to 2-0. DeBoo struck out one, walked one and gave up no hits.
Heith Hatfield couldn't get it done on the bump for the Schaumburg Boomers, taking a loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
