Both the Southern Illinois Miners (17-14) and the Evansville Otters (17-13) put runners aboard on Friday, but it was the Southern Illinois Miners that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 4-3 win at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.

Chris Burke got on base two times in the game for the Southern Illinois Miners. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the fourth inning.

The Evansville Otters couldn't get anything going as long as Derrick Miramontes was pitching. Miramontes held the Evansville Otters hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Trevor Walch was effective even in defeat, mowing down seven the Southern Illinois Miners batters and allowing three runs.

Stew Brase got the win, running his season record to 1-1. Brase struck out none, walked none and gave up three hits.
