The Schaumburg Boomers (32-28) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 4-3 ballgame against the Gateway Grizzlies (37-22) on Friday at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.
While the Schaumburg Boomers led until the sixth inning, the Gateway Grizzlies worked their way back and took the lead on an RBI single by Jet Butler.
Jose Flores had a hot bat for the Gateway Grizzlies. Flores went 3-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings.
Tim Brown recorded his ninth win of the year for the Gateway Grizzlies. He allowed three runs over seven innings. Brown struck out one, walked two and gave up nine hits.
Clark Labitan (1-1) took the loss for the Schaumburg Boomers. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed one run.
