A walk-off single from Keoni Manago brought home the winning run for the Normal CornBelters (22-19) in a 9-8 victory over the Florence Freedom (25-16) in 12 innings at The Corn Crib on Wednesday.
The Normal CornBelters were led by Manago's hitting. Manago went 2-7, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the third and twelfth innings.
Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 17 runs and 23 hits, including zero extra base hits. There were 10 pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.
Patrick McKenna racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Normal CornBelters. He homered in the third inning and singled in the ninth inning.
Jose Trinidad got the win, running his season record to 4-1. Trinidad struck out eight, walked one and gave up one hit.
Brent Choban (2-3) took the loss for the Florence Freedom. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed one run.
