The Washington Wild Things outdone by Arrojo and the Florence Freedom, 7-5

The Florence Freedom (20-14) beat the Washington Wild Things (17-16) 7-5 on Tuesday at UCMC Stadium behind Junior Arrojo, who had two extra base hits.

He doubled in the first and fourth innings and singled in the second and sixth innings.

Jorge Marban brought the heat against the Washington Wild Things during his outing. Marban held the Washington Wild Things hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Jim Vahalik put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Washington Wild Things. He doubled in the third and sixth innings.

Daniel DeSimone recorded his sixth win of the year for the Florence Freedom. DeSimone struck out one, walked none and gave up no hits.

Shawn Smith was charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked four and struck out three.

The Florence Freedom's Arrojo, Pablo Bermudez and Jacob Tanis combined for eight hits and six RBIs.
