The Lake Erie Crushers uses big eighth inning to beat the Washington Wild Things, 9-1

A five-run explosion in the eighth inning hoisted the Lake Erie Crushers (23-23) to a 9-1 win over the Washington Wild Things (22-25) at CONSOL Energy Park on Saturday.

Seth Granger racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Lake Erie Crushers. He singled in the second inning and tripled in the eighth inning.

Matt Rein picked up the win for the Lake Erie Crushers. Rein allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks while striking out two over eight innings of work.

Jovan Rosa did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Washington Wild Things, reaching base three times. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the sixth innings.

Gary Lee ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fifth loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in seven innings, walked none and struck out three.
