Christensen's two-run blast propels the Joliet Slammers past the Lake Erie Crushers, 9-5

Three first-inning runs helped the Joliet Slammers (6-9) to a 9-5 win over the Lake Erie Crushers (6-9) at All Pro Freight Stadium on Sunday.

Michael Wing paced the Joliet Slammers at the plate. Wing went 4-5 and scored two runs. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the second and fourth innings.

The Lake Erie Crushers had no answer for Shawn Kale, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Kale held the Lake Erie Crushers hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.

Despite the loss, the Lake Erie Crushers' Devyn Rivera dominated the Joliet Slammers' batters, giving up two runs and striking out five.

Corey Kimes got his second win for the Joliet Slammers despite allowing five runs over five innings. Kimes struck out two, walked one and gave up eight hits.

Matt Rein was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
