The Schaumburg Boomers (7-4) took home a marathon 6-4 victory over the Normal CornBelters (7-3) on Tuesday at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.
With the score tied at four in the twelfth inning, Steve McQuail came to the plate and homered, bringing home Chad Mozingo.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to six lead changes in the game.
McQuail put himself in scoring position with three extra-base hits for the Schaumburg Boomers. He doubled in the fourth and tenth innings and homered in the twelfth inning.
Chris Phelan put together a nice outing. The Normal CornBelters managed just one hit off of Phelan, who allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out four during his three innings of work.
Mitch Mormann ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
The Schaumburg Boomers were sparked by McQuail and Brian McConkey, who teamed up for five hits and three RBIs.
