Matt Howard brought home the winning run to give the Traverse City Beach Bums (4-4) the lead in the ninth inning, as the Traverse City Beach Bums hung on to beat the Rockford Aviators (1-7) 2-1 on Saturday.

Taylor Wrenn hit into a fielder's choice to get on base in the ninth. He then went from first to third on a double by Marcus Nidiffer.

The Rockford Aviators couldn't get anything going so long as Michael Devine was on the hill. The Rockford Aviators managed just three hits off of Devine, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two during his five innings of work.

Despite the loss, the Rockford Aviators' Seafth Howe dominated the Traverse City Beach Bums' batters, giving up zero runs and striking out 10.

Nick Capito got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Capito struck out two, walked none and gave up no hits.

Nick Cicio (0-1) took the loss for the Rockford Aviators. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
