Both the Schaumburg Boomers (5-1) and the Florence Freedom (2-3) put runners aboard on Wednesday, but it was the Schaumburg Boomers that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 2-1 win at UC Health Stadium.

The Schaumburg Boomers held off the Florence Freedom, as the Florence Freedom were unable to overcome a two-run sixth inning deficit.

The Florence Freedom scored one run in the seventh on a solo home run by Collin Janssen. Despite their efforts, the Florence Freedom couldn't get over the hump.

Frank Pfister had a hot bat for the Schaumburg Boomers. Pfister went 1-2, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the first inning.

The Florence Freedom's lineup had no answer for Matt Kuna. Kuna held the Florence Freedom hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Jason Wilson (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked none, struck out five, and allowed two runs.
