Goose Kallunki knocked in three runs as the Joliet Slammers (1-0) took home a 5-2 victory over the Traverse City Beach Bums (0-1) at Silver Cross Field on Friday.

Evan Anundsen got the win for the Joliet Slammers thanks to nine strikeouts. Anundsen allowed two earned runs, six hits and one walk over six innings.

Chris Squires had an impressive outing against the Joliet Slammers' lineup. Squires held the Joliet Slammers hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Jacob Clem ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
