The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs get on top of the Sugar Land Skeeters early but can't hang on in 7-2 loss

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (6-12) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 7-2 ballgame against the Sugar Land Skeeters (15-2) on Monday at Regency Furniture Stadium.

The Sugar Land Skeeters took the lead in the fourth inning.

Adam Godwin reached base three times in the game for the Sugar Land Skeeters. He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs had no answer for Roy Corcoran, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Corcoran held the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Matt Wright recorded his third win of the year for the Sugar Land Skeeters. He allowed two runs over six innings. Wright struck out three, walked two and gave up five hits.

Ian Marshall couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in six innings, walked one and struck out seven.
