The Long Island Ducks survive the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 4-3 thanks to Brodin's late-game heroics

Joash Brodin drove in the go-ahead run to give the Long Island Ducks (1-0) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Long Island Ducks hung on to beat the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (0-1) 4-3 on Wednesday.

After Dan Lyons doubled, Brodin came to the plate with the score tied at two in the eighth inning, and doubled, scoring Lyons.

Brodin had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the first and eighth innings.

Randy Keisler handled the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs' lineup with ease, racking up nine strikeouts. Keisler allowed two earned runs, four hits and four walks over six innings.

Jesse Gutierrez reached base three times in the game for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the second inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Jared Lansford recorded his first win of the year for the Long Island Ducks. Lansford struck out three, walked none and gave up one hit.

Ben Moore (0-1) took the loss for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. He lasted just seven innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
