The Rockford RiverHawks (36-48) and the Normal CornBelters (28-56) passed the lead back and forth five times on Sunday at The Corn Crib, but in the end the Rockford RiverHawks pulled out a 4-3 win over the Normal CornBelters.
The Rockford RiverHawks took the lead in the sixth inning and held on for the victory. A sacrifice fly by Trevor Whyte scored Matt Greener and gave the Rockford RiverHawks the lead for good.
Patrick McKenna racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Normal CornBelters. He homered in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning.
Nick Anderson recorded his first win of the year for the Rockford RiverHawks. He allowed three runs over seven innings. Anderson struck out five, walked two and gave up seven hits.
Jacob Liedka (2-11) took the loss for the Normal CornBelters. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
