The Brantford Red Sox (28-5) beat the Ottawa Fat Cats (15-18) 9-5 on Saturday at Ottawa Stadium behind Scott Thorman, who had two extra base hits.

He doubled in the third inning, homered in the fifth inning, and singled in the ninth inning.

Chris Chavez picked up the win for the Brantford Red Sox. Chavez allowed no earned runs, four hits and no walks while striking out three over six innings of work.

Kevin Dietrich did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Ottawa Fat Cats, reaching base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the second and eighth innings.

Matt Hummel (3-3) took the loss for the Ottawa Fat Cats. He allowed six runs in seven innings, walked two and struck out two.

The Brantford Red Sox were sparked by Josh McCurdy and Thorman, who teamed up for six hits and five RBIs.
