Greg Tagert returns to the Gary SouthShore Railcats in 2019 for his 15th season (25th overall) as the team’s manager. Tagert has won three league championships (2005, 2007, 2013) and has finished with a .500 winning percentage or better record in every season except one since being named the team’s manager in 2005.

The RailCats qualified for the American Association playoffs for the second straight season in 2018 after claiming the North Division Title on the final day of the regular season. Gary also finished with a single-season franchise record 59 regular-season wins in 2018. The Railcats regular-season Division Title and back-to-back playoff appearances were also firsts for Gary since merging from the now defunct Northern league to the American Association in 2011.
