Originally drafted as a pitcher, Ozzie Canseco was drafted by the new York Yankees in the 1983 Amateur draft.  Canseco played in 24 games at the major league level, finishing with a .200 batting average by going 13 for 65.  

Canseco played professional baseball for a total of 12 season, loggin 910 games at the minor league level, batting .248 with 166 home runs and 582 RBI.

 Canseco, the brother of Jose Canseco, holds the all time single season home run record for Independent Baseball with 48 home runs in 2000 while playing for the Newark Bears in the Atlantic League.
