Boof comes to Bridgeport for his first season in the Atlantic League during his 15th season of professional baseball. The right-hander began the 2014 campaign in Taiwan with the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions of the Chinese Professional Baseball League. He split the 2013 season with the San Francisco Giants and Cleveland Indians Triple-A affiliates starting 16 of the 18 combined games he appeared in with 56 strikeouts in 94.2 innings pitched.

Bonser has spent four seasons in the Major Leagues, last appearing with the Boston Red Sox and Oakland A’s in 2010 where he went a combined 1-0 in 15 games with 17 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched. The Florida native’s best big league season came as a rookie in 2006 when he started all 18 games he appeared in for the Minnesota Twins going 7-6 with a 4.22 ERA recording 84 strikeouts in 100.1 innings pitched. He also started a postseason game that season for the Twins settling for a no decision against the Oakland A’s in the ALDS after he gave up just two runs in six innings of work. During his Major League career, Bonser has appeared in 111 games (60 starts), posting 19 wins, while recording a 5.18 ERA with 334 strikeouts in 416.2 innings pitched.

Boof was originally a first-round draft pick (21st overall) in 2000 by the Giants. He has appeared in 214 minor league games (201 starts) and holds a 69-65 record with a 3.95 ERA, recording 1,045 strikeouts over the course of 1,080.2 innings pitched.
