The Louisiana native was named 1st-Team All-Southland Conference as a senior in 2012 at McNeese State University when he hit .327 with 13 doubles, four triples, four homers and 20 RBI. His numbers as a junior were even more impressive with an average of .372 and 55 RBI. That season Granger made just three errors 126 chances and finished with an on-base percentage of .439. He was a centerfielder for Iowa H.S. and hit .510 his senior year with 47 RBI. Granger was also an All-State linebacker his final two seasons in high school. He played last season in the Frontier League for the Lake Erie Crushers and hit .261 with 4 homers and 39 RBI. Granger was acquired by the Slammers in June of 2014 as the player to be named later in an earlier trade involving pitcher Jordan McCoy. He was hitting .228 with 12 RBI with the Crushers in 26 games at the time of the move.
