Pete Rose Jr. joined the Freedom as hitting coach on June 20th, 2010. The son of former major leaguer Pete Rose, Pete Jr. or PJ, was drafted out of high school by the Baltimore Orioles in 1988. 

He spent 8 years in the minors with the Erie Orioles, Frederick Keys, Sarasota White Sox, Columbus Red Stix, Kinston Indians, GCL White Sox, Hickory Crawdads, Prince William Cannons, South Bend Silver Hawks, Birmingham Barons, and the Chattanooga Lookouts before making his major league debut with the Cincinnati Reds in 1997. He collected 2 hits in 14 at-bats with the Reds.

He played 12 more years in the minors with 12 different teams but never made it back to the Majors. 

Rose Jr. coached the Freedom for 1 game, July 8th, 2003, but ultimately decided he wanted to continue his playing career before getting into managing.
