Nelson made a successful collegiate debut as Villanova’s backup catcher last season. He proved to be a good offensive player who showed power potential at the plate.  Nelson has improved his defensive abilities behind the plate, and will have an opportunity to earn playing there this season. Playing perfect defense with 64 putouts, 13 assists and no errors, hit .409 in his seven starts and .400 over his last 13 games overallBay Sox General Manager Kirk Fredriksson said, “Adam’s a big strong kid.  He will be a valuable backstop for us, and he’ll gain a lot of experience playing in the Big East before he gets here.”Nelson was a four-year letter winner in basketball, football, and track and field at St. Joseph Christian School.  His high school did not have a baseball team.
