Monzon will play his first season of independent baseball in 2010. He split time in 2009 with Double-A West Tennessee and Triple-A Tacoma in the Seattle Mariners organization. The infielder combined to post a .226 batting average along with five home runs and 15 RBI in 55 games. The 28-year-old has played six seasons of professional baseball, all in the Mariners organization.

Monzon’s best season came in 2005 as a member of the Single-A Inland Empire 66ers of the California League. The Puerto Rico native posted a .271 batting average and set career-highs in home runs (13), RBI (49), runs (53), hits (95), and doubles (25). For his career, he has compiled a .248 batting average, 41 home runs, and 183 RBI in 447 games. Monzon played collegiate baseball at the University of Tampa and was originally drafted in the 29th round of the 1999 amateur entry draft by the Texas Rangers.
