Steven Evarts begins his first season in El Paso in 2012.  The 6’3, 180 lbs, southpaw from Pordenone, Italy, was drafted 43rd overall by the Atlanta Braves in the 2006 draft and was ranked as their 15th best prospect before the 2008 season.  Evarts was released by the Braves in 2009 and signed with the New York Yankees in December of 2010.  Evarts began his career with the Rookie Level GCL Braves of the Gulf Coast League in 2006 and moved to the Danville Braves of Appalachian League in 2007.  In 2008, Evarts spent time with the A level Rome Braves of the South Atlantic League before taking time off due to elbow surgery.  He returned to baseball in 2011 with the Class A affiliate of the Yankees, the Charleston RiverDogs of the South Atlantic League before joining the Diablos and independent baseball in 2012.  In four seasons of professional baseball, Evarts has a record of 9-7 and an ERA of 3.21 in 29 appearances with 26 starts.  In 134.2 innings of work, Evarts has allowed 128 hits and only 48 earned runs with 108 strikeouts with an average of 8.6 strikeouts per nine innings.
