Wright was a key reliever for the Newport Gulls in 2011, and is returning for a second stint in the City by the Sea in 2012. Used mainly as a set-up man out of the bullpen, Wright made a pair of quality starts down the stretch after injuries decimated the Gulls starting rotation. Wright made 10 appearances and was 3-1 with a 2.43 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 29.2 innings of work.

Wright made 15 appearances, starting 13 games as a junior at Arkansas State this spring. He owned a 3-5 record with a 4.66 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 73.1 innings. Wright went 1-5 with a 5.12 ERA and two saves in 23 appearances, starting two games as a sophomore, and went 3-3 with a 4.10 ERA and one save in 21 relief appearances as a freshman.
