Wetterau, a four-year player with the Big East Conference’s Red Storm, will be a part of the Bats’ catching group this season after completing his redshirt

junior season at St. John’s. He hit .289 over his first nine games in the spring and posted a .348 on-base percentage over the first 24 contests (22

starts) while walking the same number of times as he struck out (13-13). Wetterau had a career .988 fielding percentage in the initial 79 games (62

starts) of his St. John’s career, which began in 2019, and caught 24 percent of his base-stealers over the opening two months of the season. At the plate,

he had a .265 campaign with four doubles and 11 RBI in 2021 (23 games). Wetterau was rated the No. 3 catching prospect and No. 38 overall in the

state of New Jersey out of Shawnee High School, where he also played three years and was a two-time First Team All-Conference football player.
