Kutzler has played for three schools during his collegiate career, most recently for Carthage College, a Division III program in Wisconsin. This spring, Kutzler dominated in his lone start, striking out 12 hitters over six innings in a win over Luther. Kutzler played his junior season at Wisconsin-Whitewater, and spent two years at Saint Louis to open his college career. He compiled a 1-1 record with a 1.16 earned run average, 22 strikeouts in 23.3 innings pitched and a .167 opponent-batting average at Whitewater, and logged 21 innings over two seasons as a Billiken.
