As a freshman at division one Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio…Stephenson appeared in 28 games starting 13 times while hitting .203 for the Musketeers with eight RBI and four extra base hits (three doubles and one HR)…Stephenson is from Algonac, Mich. where he was a strong defensive catcher and hit .429 with seven homers and 19 stolen bases as a high school junior… Stephenson earned All-State recognition for the first time in 2016 after leading team to a district championship and was actually a running back for the Algonac football team where he helped the team to its first conference championship in his senior year since 1972…Stephenson’s father, Mike, was a center fielder at Michigan State in the 90s.
