Ontiveros joins the Wild Things with five years of experience with Florida Marlins organization and a career .231 batting average. Last season, he batted .193 with 48 hits, 15 runs and 16 RBIs for Jupiter of the High-A Florida State League.
He split his 2009 season between Jupiter, Greensboro (single-A) in the South Atlantic League, and New Orleans Zephyrs (AAA). Ontiveros put up his best numbers in Grasshoppers, where he batted .213 with 46 hits, 36 runs and 20 RBIs. Overall with the three teams, he batted .208 with one homerun, 49 hits, 27 runs and 21 RBIs in 79 games.
In 2008, he played for Greensboro, Carolina (AA) and Jupiter, combining for a .264 batting average with 39 runs, 75 hits and 30 RBIs. Ontiveros split the 2007 season with GLC Marlins, Greensboro and Jupiter. Overall in 2007, he batted .230 with 13 RBIs, 28 hits and 15 runs in 41 games.
The native of Valencia, Venezuela played in the Venezuelan Summer League in 2005 for the VSL Marlins/Nationals.
