Navarro joins the Ducks with 13 seasons of major league experience under his belt. The catcher played for multiple teams in that timeframe, including the New York Yankees (2004), Los Angeles Dodgers (2005-06, 2011), Tampa Bay Devil Rays/Rays (2006-10), Cincinnati Reds (2012), Chicago Cubs (2013), Toronto Blue Jays (2014-2016), and the Chicago White Sox (2016). In 1,009 games at the big league level, the Venezuela native accumulated a .250 batting average, 77 home runs, 367 RBI, 322 runs and 142 doubles. Navarro spent 891 games behind the plate in the MLB, compiling a .990 fielding percentage while throwing out 186 base stealers.

The 34-year-old was an American League All-Star with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2008, a season in which he hit .295 along with seven home runs, 54 RBI, 43 runs and 27 doubles while posting a .994 fielding percentage. That same year, he helped lead the Rays to the American League championship and a World Series appearance. Navarro was selected to play in the Futures Game in 2004. He also earned Mid-Season All-Star honors at the Triple-A level in 2005 (Pacific Coast League) and 2012 (International League).
