Bowen returns to the city where he played his college baseball, having compiled a 2.70 ERA over 90 innings with Friends University after starting his collegiate career at Glendale Community College. Over two seasons totaling 16 starts, the Litchfield Park, Ariz., native struck out 93 while handing out just 26 walks, racking up seven complete games in a Falcons uniform.

The 25-year old signed with the St. Louis Cardinals as an undrafted free agent following the 2015 season, making his professional debut later that year with the Gulf Coast Cardinals. Bowen transitioned to working out of the bullpen full-time while in the St. Louis organization, notching nine saves with a 3.23 for Low Class-A State College the following year. Bowen followed up his strong 2016 campaign the following year by excelling at Class-A Peoria and High-A Palm Beach, posting a 2.89 ERA over 62.2 combined innings and recording five more saves. The southpaw started the 2018 season with Double-A Springfield, making four appearances before being released by the Cardinals organization on April 24. Bowen owns a 2-3 record and 3.72 ERA over 88 professional appearances, allowing 129 hits in 130.2 innings.
