Jones joins the Flock after being acquired in a trade from the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association. The right-hander made 36 appearances during the 2017 season with Sioux Falls, compiling a 3-3 record with a 2.57 ERA, two saves and 47 strikeouts to just 17 walks in 42 innings of work. He also spent the 2016 season with the Canaries and pitched in 27 games, going 0-2 with a 4.80 ERA and 26 strikeouts over 30 innings. The Kentucky native split time in 2015 with Sioux Falls and the Windy City Thunderbolts of the Frontier League, combining to post a 4.38 ERA, seven saves and 33 strikeouts in 42 appearances.

The 28-year-old began his professional career in the San Diego Padres organization. In two seasons, he made 64 relief appearances and reached as high as Double-A San Antonio in 2013. The University of Louisiana at Monroe alum combined to go 6-7 with a 3.56 ERA, eight saves and 89 strikeouts to 28 walks over 96 innings of work. He then spent his first season of independent baseball with the Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier League in 2013. Jones was drafted by the Padres in the 33rd round of the 2011 amateur draft.
