Previous Career: Became interested in baseball at a young age because his father played baseball. Moved to America because there were few baseball opportunities in South Africa. Started two games for South Africa in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, going 1 for 6 with a run. In 2009 and 2010 played on the Western Province Baseball League in Cape Town, and the Gauteng Baseball League in Johannesburg, leading both leagues in batting. Went 1 for 3 in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, led South Africa in on base percentage. Started one game in 2017 World Baseball Qualifiers with one RBI
