Early boost from Canizares helps the Winnipeg Goldeyes get past the Gary SouthShore RailCats, 7-2

Three first-inning runs helped the Winnipeg Goldeyes (49-38) to a 7-2 win over the Gary SouthShore RailCats (44-44) at Gary, Ind. (U.S. Steel Yard) on Tuesday.

Yurendell de Caster had two extra-base hits for the Winnipeg Goldeyes. He doubled in the fifth and ninth innings.

Mike Massaro racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Gary SouthShore RailCats. He homered in the sixth inning.

Andrew Walker improved to 8-4 on the year by picking up the win for the Winnipeg Goldeyes. He allowed two runs over 6 2/3 innings. Walker struck out two, walked two and gave up seven hits.

Stephen Hiscock (4-6) took the loss for the Gary SouthShore RailCats. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked one and struck out two.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes were sparked by Barbaro Canizares and de Caster, who teamed up for six hits and six RBIs.
