The Winnipeg Goldeyes (25-15) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Wichita Wingnuts (30-10), recording a 9-1 victory on Friday at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.

Six runs in the first three innings allowed the Winnipeg Goldeyes to put the game away early.

A two-run double by Kyle Day, , and an RBI single by Dan Barbero in the second inning fueled the Winnipeg Goldeyes' offense early.

Day racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Winnipeg Goldeyes.

Andrew Walker picked up the win for the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Walker allowed one earned run, five hits and one walk while striking out four over eight innings of work.

It was a good day at the plate for the Wichita Wingnuts' John Rodriguez. Rodriguez went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the first and ninth innings.

Shawn Lewick was charged with the loss. He allowed nine runs in five innings, walked one and struck out two.
