The Salina Stockade jump on the Santa Fe Fuego early and coast to 13-6 win

The Salina Stockade (24-27) shut the door early on the Santa Fe Fuego (15-37), capturing a 13-6 victory on Thursday at Fort Marcy Park.

Eight runs in the first three innings allowed the Salina Stockade to put the game away early.

An RBI single by Mike Rachun, a three-run home run by Nick Wagner, and a two-run double by Steven Longo in the first inning and a solo home run by John Carlos Peralta and a groundout by Wagner during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Salina Stockade.

Wagner racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Salina Stockade.

Tim Blackmon got the win for the Salina Stockade thanks to 10 strikeouts. Blackmon allowed two earned runs, five hits and four walks over six innings.

Chris Tavares racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Santa Fe Fuego. He singled in the fifth inning, homered in the seventh inning, and doubled in the ninth inning.

Thomas Zarewicz ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his sixth loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in one inning, walked one and struck out one.

The Salina Stockade easily handled the Santa Fe Fuego pitching as six hitters combined for 14 hits, nine RBIs and 11 runs scored.
