Dan Ludwig struck out six batters to lift the Southern Illinois Miners (27-12) to a 9-1 win over the Schaumburg Boomers (21-19) at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.

Nine runs in the first three innings helped the Southern Illinois Miners blow out the Schaumburg Boomers. An RBI single by Shane Kennedy and a two-run double by Steve Marino during the first inning and an RBI double by Francisco Rosario, a two-run single by Aaron Gates, a triple by Kennedy, and a single by Craig Massey in the second inning fueled the Southern Illinois Miners' offense early.

Kennedy racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Southern Illinois Miners.

Kenny Towns was hot from the plate for the Schaumburg Boomers. Towns went 3-4. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the sixth and ninth innings.

Seth Webster (4-3) took the loss for the Schaumburg Boomers. He allowed seven runs in two innings, walked three and struck out three.
