Austin Newell went 1-2, sparking the Florence Freedom (12-18) to a 3-0 victory in six innings over the Lake Erie Crushers (10-17) on Thursday at All Pro Freight Stadium.

The Lake Erie Crushers couldn't get anything going so long as Jeremy Gooding was on the hill. Gooding gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his five innings of work.

A bright spot for the Lake Erie Crushers in the defeat was Zach Morton, who allowed only zero runs while striking out six.

Zac Treece (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
