Daniel Poma had two extra base hits, helping the Washington Wild Things (7-8) to a 6-1 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies (4-12) on Sunday at GCS Ballpark.
He doubled in the fourth and sixth innings and singled in the eighth inning.The Washington Wild Things got the win thanks in large part to Matt Sergey's dominant, 10-strikeout performance. Sergey allowed one earned run on three hits and four walks over six innings.
The Gateway Grizzlies were led by a flawless day at the dish by Ryan Soares, who went 2-2 against the Washington Wild Things' pitching. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the sixth inning.
JaVaun West pitched eight innings and allowed five earned runs, seven hits and one walk while striking out 10.
West (2-1) took the loss for the Gateway Grizzlies.
