The Rockford Aviators get on top of the Joliet Slammers early but can't hang on in 6-4 loss

The Rockford Aviators (9-1) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 6-4 to the Joliet Slammers (6-4) on Tuesday.

An RBI single by Dante Rosenberg gave the Joliet Slammers the lead in the sixth inning.

The Joliet Slammers were led by Alfredo Rodriguez's hitting. Rodriguez went 3-5 and scored three runs. He singled in the second, sixth, and eighth innings.

The Rockford Aviators had no answer for Sam Moore, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Moore held the Rockford Aviators hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Ryan Breen reached base three times in the game for the Rockford Aviators. He scored one run and had two RBIs. He homered in the first inning.

Jordan Guth got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out four, walked four and surrendered seven hits.

Patrick Dolan ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
